Calcium Carbide for Acetylene Generation

Calcium carbide (chemical formula CaC2) is an important inorganic compound. When calcium carbide comes into contact with water, it undergoes a rapid exothermic hydrolysis reaction, instantly generating highly flammable acetylene gas. Due to this unique property, the acetylene generated from calcium carbide can be used as an important fuel gas in oxyacetylene welding and cutting, steelmaking, and is also a core chemical raw material for the synthesis of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), synthetic rubber, and various organic solvents. Ensuring optimal gas yield (typically 295 liters/kg to 305 liters/kg) largely depends on the purity and particle size uniformity of the calcium carbide lumps. We can guarantee not only stable gas yield and low impurity content (such as phosphine and hydrogen sulfide), but also strict compliance with UN-approved dangerous goods packaging standards (Class 4.3) to prevent accidental moisture absorption during sea transport.
